Victoria Canby Named Interim Executive Director

On January 14, 2020, the board of the MAI enthusiastically voted in Victoria Canby as Interim Executive Director. Victoria, also known as Tory, has been a member of the board and continues to be the spokesperson for the museum. As a Marin resident and a member of the Diné nation, she felt inspired to connect with the museum. She holds advanced degrees in Studio Arts, Art History, and Humanities and completed her certification in California Indian Studies. She is currently studying herbalism at Gathering Thyme.

Victoria has also been an exhibiting artist in the Bay Area and works in acrylics, pen and ink and found objects. As an educator, she relishes working with primary school kids throughout Marin.

She has resigned from the board but will continue to attend meetings as an Ex Oficio member. Recently, we have seen her outstanding work in setting up and restructuring the gallery for our latest exhibit. She has been enjoying working on cataloging the museum’s collection with our amazing collections manager Sarah Pusey. She is also working hard with our dedicated board to plan exciting events. Congratulations, Tory.
