The Irv Links Pre-Columbian Collection (2018)

“We want to involve the people of Novato, young and old, in preserving the pre-history of the area—and to keep it here so that it is all available for reference and posterity.”

- Irving Armand Links

Irving Links, or “Irv”, as everyone called him, was a local businessman and director of the Kiwanis Club who had a longstanding history of promoting Novato. When talk of establishing a museum started making headway, Irv gained the Kiwanis Club’s support and turned the idea into reality.

They had been promised a house at Sixth Street and Grant Avenue, which was transported to this park on May 5, 1969. Irv filmed the building as it rested on beams and wheeled trucks and later various stages of its construction. In 1967 he donated his collection of Peruvian, Ecuadorian, and Mexican artifacts in honor of his son.
