Located on the ancient site of the Coast Miwok with woodlands and a creek, our day camps provide children the opportunity to develop meaningful experiences with Mother Earth while building self-esteem and respect for all our relations. We’ll explore Native American cultural arts and life ways through guided nature walks, making crafts and playing a variety of Native American games and learning hunting skills through target practice like throwing blunt spears through hoops, archery or lacrose. Camp director and artist, Alicia M. Retes, part Mayo, Yaqui and Cherokee welcomes Native American includes other Native American teachers to share their heritage with the children. We conclude the week with a family pot latch and an interactive story performance, “How Rabbit Stole Fire.”
