Located on the ancient village site of the Coast Miwok, our day camps provide children the opportunity to develop meaningful experiences with Mother Earth while building self-esteem and respect for all our relations. We’ll explore Native American cultural arts and life ways through guided nature walks, making crafts and playing Native American Indian games and target practice using hoop and spears, archery or lacrosse. We conclude the week with an interactive story “How Rabbit Stole Fire” on Thursday and a pot-luck using Native American Indian foods on Friday.
Camp director, artist and teacher, Alicia M. Retes, part Mayo, Yaqui and Cherokee welcomes other Native American Indian guest teachers to share their heritage with the children.
